Clay Camp Ho!

It is time once again for the NWPCG to host it's annual Clay Camp Retreat.
Arrived around 4:30 this afternoon, after a not so brief stop at the Ben Franklin store in Monroe.  There I found a bin with TONS of metal beads at very reasonable prices.  I bought some thinking they might look good colored with the Vintaj patina's I got a while ago. Tried a few experiments before dinner which I will try to post later, if I can find my camera in all the stuff that I packed for the weekend.
I am soooo tired.  I was up till almost 5am is morning with a sick kitty.  Finally slept about 4 hours before he woke me up again by peeing on me!  Vet says that he has a urine infection on top of the kidney disease.  Poor little guy.

So I am off to bed at a time I am normally still at work.  Hope to actually get some clay work done this weekend.

Wednesday in the park with Prince

I spent last week getting ready for and finally teaching my first legitimate class in domino art.  It was a very positive experience for me.  I did not stutter too much and only repeated myself a couple of times.  The main problem I did run into was time.  I only had a few people in the class, and since it is such an easy technique to learn, I had time to spare.  We spent it decorating more dominoes than I had planned for. I even made a few as demos and had a give away.
Examples of Domino pendants - same stamp, different colors
So, when I was done with the stress of that, I figured my PC muse would return.  No such luck.  Now I have the spring cleaning bug.  I found a used bookshelf that was in pretty good shape at Value Village.  I spent the early morning hunting down and sorting my beading, PC and jewelry books.  Now I actually have some empty shelves in my studio.  Maybe I can actually get some stuff up off the floor  now - LOL.  Maybe I will have it organized by the time Clay Camp rolls around in a few weeks.

Took Prince to the vet today for his weekly shot.  Since the weather was nicer this week than it has been (in other words, it wasn't raining), we stopped on the way home at the community center park and had a small picnic lunch.   We thought that he might enjoy a bit of a romp in the grass. But I guess it was still a bit too cold for the poor skinny boy. All he wanted to do was snuggle close to daddy. (he actually gained a couple of ounces past week - hurrah).
I smell chicken!

Life's Ugly SIde

It has been a while since I blogged. I would like to say it was because I was busy creating but unfortunately life has poked its sometimes ugly head  where it is not wanted.

Normally I want to focus on my art and love of polymer but I need the catharsis of talking/writing about the bad that lets us appreciate the good.  Two sides of the coin of Life.

Our beloved Underfoot, Prince Pippin, became extremely lethargic several weeks ago,  At first we thought it might be the heat as summer had finally arrived, but when he would not sit in front the fan we put in the window (he has ALWAYS had first perch for this coveted position), we knew that something out of the ordinary was going on.  A trip to the vet confirmed the bad news.He has kidney disease and was in pretty bad shape

So over the last few weeks we have learned that our docile baby boy can be a real fighter when it comes to having pills and vitamins (even in liquid form) popped down his throat.  We have learned how to give a kitty IV infusion (he really HATES that) and have gotten really good at finding all his hiding places.  We have learned to appreciate every purr and head butt to "pet me, please" . We don't even get upset any more when he wakes us in the morning by touching his paw to our nose because it means he is hungry and might eat more than a dollop of food (he needs to gain some weight which is hard since he really doesn't like the kidney diet he is on.)

Here he is enjoying a rest on his favorite soft spot.  He loves looking out the window laying on his comfy perch.
You don't mind if I shed all over the place, do you? Maybe you can knit something out of my hair, hum?

Equal Time

Started to blog about some transfers I did recently, when Prince Pippin Underfoot demanded my attention.  He pointed out, and rightly so, that I have NOT included him in any of my blogs. How dare I forget him!  After all, he is patriarch of the Underfoot Clan.
