Glass is another of my Loves

Dale Chihuly's Glass Garden and Museum (located at the Seattle Center) officially opened yesterday.  I am so looking forward to seeing it.  Have to wait for a day off when it doesn't rain in Seattle thought, so it may be a while.

Oh, Maria ... what have you done!

At Clay Camp, my guildie, Maria Brown (aka the Blonde Crow), introduced me to Pinterest.  Sure, I had heard of it, but had not ventured there yet.  All I needed was Pinterest addiction on top of Blogitis.  AND to top it off, in order to sign up for Pinterest, I had to join Facebook.   Argggggh...  I am being forced to "get with it".  Pretty hard for an old dog like me, but I guess I am learning a few new tricks.  I already have 3 friends, and  the first person to ask to friend me was Marie Segal!  I had a very happy thrill run through me when I saw that. I know this is "old hat" to most of you, heck even my brother is on Facebook, but it is an exciting new realm of exploration for me.
Anyway,  I was just on Flickr pinning some of my favorite earring designs from the 52 earrings in a year project (I know... I am way behind posting my earrings .... life intrudes and all that).  I discovered that a lot of my favorite artist have disabled the ability to pin their pictures.  I can understand why,  but am still a bit disappointed. At this time, that is a step I am not going to take. I hope to someday sell my work on line and from my perspective, having my work available to pin just means that more people would see it and possibly want to know where to buy it.

Clay Camp Ho!

It is time once again for the NWPCG to host it's annual Clay Camp Retreat.
Arrived around 4:30 this afternoon, after a not so brief stop at the Ben Franklin store in Monroe.  There I found a bin with TONS of metal beads at very reasonable prices.  I bought some thinking they might look good colored with the Vintaj patina's I got a while ago. Tried a few experiments before dinner which I will try to post later, if I can find my camera in all the stuff that I packed for the weekend.
I am soooo tired.  I was up till almost 5am is morning with a sick kitty.  Finally slept about 4 hours before he woke me up again by peeing on me!  Vet says that he has a urine infection on top of the kidney disease.  Poor little guy.

So I am off to bed at a time I am normally still at work.  Hope to actually get some clay work done this weekend.

Wednesday in the park with Prince

I spent last week getting ready for and finally teaching my first legitimate class in domino art.  It was a very positive experience for me.  I did not stutter too much and only repeated myself a couple of times.  The main problem I did run into was time.  I only had a few people in the class, and since it is such an easy technique to learn, I had time to spare.  We spent it decorating more dominoes than I had planned for. I even made a few as demos and had a give away.
Examples of Domino pendants - same stamp, different colors
So, when I was done with the stress of that, I figured my PC muse would return.  No such luck.  Now I have the spring cleaning bug.  I found a used bookshelf that was in pretty good shape at Value Village.  I spent the early morning hunting down and sorting my beading, PC and jewelry books.  Now I actually have some empty shelves in my studio.  Maybe I can actually get some stuff up off the floor  now - LOL.  Maybe I will have it organized by the time Clay Camp rolls around in a few weeks.

Took Prince to the vet today for his weekly shot.  Since the weather was nicer this week than it has been (in other words, it wasn't raining), we stopped on the way home at the community center park and had a small picnic lunch.   We thought that he might enjoy a bit of a romp in the grass. But I guess it was still a bit too cold for the poor skinny boy. All he wanted to do was snuggle close to daddy. (he actually gained a couple of ounces past week - hurrah).
I smell chicken!
